PGR-8800 Arc-Flash Relay
PGA-LS10 and PGA-LS20 Light Sensors
Functions:
- The PGR-8800 limits arc-flash damage by detecting the light from an arc-flash event and tripping rapidly
- Current transformer (CT) input provides overcurrent protection and prevents nuisance trips
Features:
- Detects an arc flash and trips the output in less than 1 ms
- Six inputs for PGA-LS10 Point Sensors and PGA-LS20 Fiber-Optic Sensors
- Link up to 4 PGR-8800 units together; all units trip when one senses an arc flash
- Adjustable light sensitivity
- Built-in sensor
- Continuous monitoring of sensors and redundant trip circuit
- Remote-trip, trip-inhibit, and reset inputs
- Separate connection for 24-Vdc battery power with built-in battery charging circuit
- Plug-and-play USB interface to configure relay settings and access data logs on a PC, no drivers or software installation required
- Service mode to allow relay testing without tripping
- Eighteen LEDs indicate relay and sensor status
- DIN-rail and surface mounting
- Five year warranty

Technical Documentation
Typical Applications:
- Used in new equipment and retrofit applications with all horizontal and vertical bus bars, breaker compartments, drawers, and anywhere that there is potential for an arc-fault.
Minimum System Components:
- The PGR-8800 Arc-Flash Relay requires input from a light sensor. The built-in sensor can be used, although at least one PGA-LS10 or PGA-LS20 light sensor is typical; 1 or 2 sensors per cubicle of protected equipment are generally recommended.
- External phase CTs are available to provide overcurrent protection and enhance the reliability of arc-flash detection.
- The PGR-8800 can be programmed through the software included on the relay, by connecting to a PC with the USB port. No drivers or software installation is required.
